About the role
At Cropster, we are building market-leading Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions to empower businesses throughout the coffee supply chain. Thousands of customers all over the world from farm to cup use our software products to make better coffee.
Product designers at Cropster take raw ideas and make them into something everyone can relate to and rally behind. We start from the very early stages: finding the right problem to tackle, exploring ideas for how to solve it and then refining it into a coherent solution. Our product designers carry out research, brainstorming, sketching, prototyping and collaborate with our product managers and engineers to ship great products. We are empathetic user advocates and care deeply about our users’ experience and our customers' needs. We use Figma and Figjam for ideation and prototyping of solutions in all levels of fidelity, and have a solid Design System in place to keep our UI consistent across products.
As a Product Designer at Cropster you will be part of our international, highly supportive and collaborative product design team where we do regular design critiques and foster a feedback giving and learning environment.
The preferred locations for this role are Innsbruck or Vienna.
What you'll do
Take ownership of our new design system, the processes that come with it and its overall quality.
Maintain and extend our Figma setup with pixel perfect components that can be easily used by your team members.
Develop new patterns and write usage guidelines that can be easily consumed and applied.
Review our React components in Storybook and work closely with engineers throughout the whole process to make sure that design and implementation add up perfectly.
Support engineering with feedback and on-the-fly decisions as your components are being implemented.
Leverage data, insights and user research to inform your day-to-day work.
Promote the usage of our design system, utilizing reusable components across multiple products.
Improve our cross-product areas such navigation or onboarding. This includes for instance user journeys, wireframes, high fidelity mockups and prototypes.
Enable other product designers to actively contribute with further developing our design system.
Be the ambassador of design best practices and accessibility standards.
Strive to provide a seamless product experience from daily improvements to longer-term strategies.
Things you must do well
Defining and understanding complex user flows.
Designing concepts always with the bigger picture in mind.
Managing and nurturing cross-functional relationships.
Having full proficiency with Figma.
Being proficient in technical tools and speaking a cross-functional language.
Actively looking for inconsistent workflows in the design process.
Having a systemic approach to design operations.
Handling a certain level of uncertainty and cutting through it.
Accurately estimating and planning design work.
Understanding that good design is not about trends but is built on top of principles and tradeoffs. We like well-reasoned design decisions.
Contributing to the Product Design strategy.
We are looking for someone with
At least 3 years of experience in Product (UI/UX) design and at least 1 year with a strong focus on design systems (your portfolio should reflect that).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience working within cross- functional teams, preferably in a product/SaaS context.
A true team spirit - someone who is actively helping and contributing to the success of the team and products.
Fluency in English.
At this point, Cropster will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in Austria for this opening. For Non-EU applicants: please attach your work permit to your application.
