Summary
We are looking for skilled Database Engineers with a real-world knowledge and experience in relational databases and object stores to join our Database infrastructure team - a part of CloudOS, Platform Group, SAP Signavio unit in Germany.
In this role, you will be part of a newly established team whose purpose is to become the Center of Excellence for persistence technologies supporting the SAP Signavio engineering and operations teams.
Being part of this team is an opportunity to lead the convergence of diverse databases of the entire SAP Signavio organization to a managed cloud persistence service, establish best practices, help engineering teams ramp up their knowledge and maintain central components of the persistence layer.
What You'll Do

Own our existing AWS RDS DBs infrastructure (Postgres, MySQL) and MongoDB – from maintenance to improvements in scalability, reliability, costs etc.
Enhance continuous performance monitoring and improvements of RDS DBs
Ensure security and compliance using state of the art Infrastructure-as-Code approaches
Improve disaster recovery strategies
Support implementing Crossplane for RDS and Cloud-native data migration services (e.g. AWS DMS)

Design and deliver SAP Signavio persistence infrastructure supporting highly scalable unified product (Process Cloud) while keeping engineering teams and individual developers autonomous and efficient
Contribute to the entire cycle of product development, from first ideas and brainstorming sessions to continuously delivering improvements based on internal customer data
Bootstrap and developing end-to-end product increments in collaboration with the team
Challenge existing and define new architectural standards with senior stakeholders
Collaborate with other teams and tech leads across the organization to establish best practices

Mentor less-experienced peers and be mentored by more-experienced peers

What You'll Bring

Programming skills in one of modern languages (Java, Python, Node.js, Go) and proficiency in SQL is required
Experience with databases (for example SAP HANA Cloud, MySQL, Postgres or their cloud-based equivalents) and document stores, data access layer programming models and operational aspects of the cloud persistence technologies

Docker, Kubernetes and AWS CDK experience is a plus
Familiarity with Design patterns, Software Design methodologies
You can enable others to work independently, you’re not afraid of preparing documentation
You’re comfortable with fast iterations, test driven development, pair programming, pragmatic development approaches and fail-fast attitude
Ability to handle uncertainty and to adapt to continuous change
