We are mokker.ai, an AI photo studio for product images making product photography easy as ever before. Our small team launched mokker.ai just in mid-February. Since then, more than 160.000 users joined us! We are rapidly growing as recently received funding from leading European and US SaaS Investors and we would love to find a seasoned Senior Frontend Engineer to help bring the company to the next level.

The kind of stuff you’ll do:

Be one of the leading frontend developers for mokker.ai new platform, which is based on Stable Diffusion.
Develop mokker.ai's webapp and SDK on a modern tech stack (React, Next.js/Vercel, TypeScript, Supabase/Postgres).
Plan, develop, and test new features in and together with the backend developer(s) to integrate them with the rendering backend.
Work closely together with technical founders.
Be an active part of architectural decisions.
We are open to developing the position into the frontend lead as more people join the team.

To rock this job, you’ll bring: ‍Must have:

Deep knowledge of web technologies including CSS and significant experience with React with Typescript. We do not have a strict limit on years of experience because it's a bad measure, but you should have a really good understanding of how to do things the right way.
Experience with Next.js and generally JavaScript/TypeScript.
Availability during usual work times in our main timezone - Central Europe / CE(S)T.
Fluency in English.
A team-oriented personality and ability to work collaboratively with the team and various stakeholders.

Nice to have:

Interest in AI, photography and/or visual arts.
Experience with Mobile App development, especially Capacitor.
A computer science or technical engineering degree. However, we do not put much emphasis on formal education.
Knowledge in Dev/Ops, CI/CD pipelines.
Experience working in and maybe even leading a team.
Experience with designing and building nice UIs.

How do we work?

We are a hybrid company with an office in Vienna and soon an office in Cape Town - our main time zone is Central Europe / Africa.
We work in a virtual office - Gather.town that allows us to still keep micro-interactions while being completely remote.
We have an office in Vienna, Austria and are now setting up a new office in Cape Town, South Africa.
Every day we meet in the morning daily to sync on important updates. Wednesdays are scheduled meeting-free days.
We share with each other feedback regularly during the weekly sessions. Additionally, you will have monthly 1on1s with one of the founders.
At our stage, we would expect the coding style to meet halfway between super rapid development and maintainability. Super dirty hacks that constantly need rewriting slow us down as much as perfectionism. The larger the codebase grows and the more we can plan ahead, the more emphasis we want to put on maintainability and extendability.

Recruitment process:

The recruitment process will consist of a short 30 min screening (video or phone) call to check the formal stuff, a longer (1h) technical interview call with the team and founders, and one on-site meeting in Vienna. We know that 3 interviews sound tedious, and we do our best to make the interviews as concise as possible. But you should also be sure to know if we are the right fit for you :)
In one of the calls, we will go through one project of yours together (you choose the project you want to show and discuss) or ask you to complete a case study. We are not a fan of classical formal coding interviews. There are more important things in our stage than calculating the runtime in o-notation. Also, we definitely want you to be prepared to discuss your experiences.
