The Application Performance Monitoring (APM) Specialist delivers holistic monitoring capabilities related to the management of software application performance to ensure an expected level of service, as measured by performance metrics and user experience monitoring. APM solutions aim to detect and pinpoint application performance issues before real users are impacted. It is responsible for the consolidation of performance metrics across domains by gathering real-time data in one searchable dataset to support continual improvement of consumer facing Information Systems (IS) services.

Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM) and Application Performance Monitoring (APM)
Your responsibilities

Responsible for delivering a holistic monitoring service for Applications across ABB, providing visibility to the consumer experience. Will support the continual evolution of proactive and preventive issue resolutions through real time data gathering, which will increase customer productivity and ABB performance.
Design, implement and manage monitoring systems to improve detection and avoidance of issues. Participate in defining the monitoring roadmap, platforms and strategies based on industry best-practices. Overall responsible for the health of enterprise monitoring platforms. Responsible for partnering with peripheral teams, such as Service Management, to develop adequate monitoring platform integrations.
Is responsible for fostering a continuous improvement culture, identify process performance improvement opportunities, including visualization of current processes and generation of insights for process optimization.
Applies a variety of visualization techniques and designs the content and appearance of data visuals. Operationalizes and automates activities for efficient and timely production of data visuals. Contributes to exploration and experimentation in data visualization.
Is responsible for the monitoring of service delivery against service level agreements and maintenance of records of relevant information by the service owners.

Your background

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
Above 3 years of solid experience designing, implementing, and managing monitoring solutions.
Above 3 years of experience working with a variety of technology platforms in a distributed environment including: Microsoft systems (e.g., Windows Server, Active Directory, System Center), Linux/Unix, VMWare, SQL Server, database architectures, Network/IP, LAN/WAN technologies and architectures.
Above 3 years extensive hands-on experience with two or more of the following toolsets (Dynatrace, SiteScope, Checkmk, Azure Monitoring, Grafana, Extended expertise in scripting, Bash/PowerShell, Python, .NET, Java, SQL).
Solid experience in application deployment and troubleshooting, preferably in a similar role.
Experience with best-in-class monitoring, data analysis, and visualization tools combined with deep understanding of consumer needs
ITIL and Lean Certifications preferred.
Strong communication skills; Fluent English.
