Difficult to treat antimicrobial resistant pathogens are a growing threat to public health believed to be associated with close to five million deaths in 2019 alone. Fueling the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance is the inappropriate use of ineffective antibiotics. This impacts patient outcomes and promotes the spread of antimicrobial resistant pathogens. Leading global health organizations are therefore calling for antibiotic stewardship through diagnostic innovations that promote the optimal use of antibiotics. At Ares Genetics, our services and products address the need for better diagnostic methods. Building on our bioinformatics technology platform, we combine microbial genomics with machine learning to characterize bacterial pathogens. To help us develop our growing service business, we are recruiting a Frontend Engineer (m/f/d) for a staff function role with an unlimited full-time employment contract. Your role at Ares GeneticsAs Frontend Engineer you are responsible for developing and maintaining our web application AREScloud for data processing, analysis, and reporting of microbial genomics data. You will collaborate with the bioinformatics team to integrate new features and components into the application stack. In this role, you will actively engage with product owners to define project specifications and lead the implementation of front-end solutions, ensuring high-quality code and adherence to best practices Additionally, you will optimize application performance and ensure the application meets accessibility and security standards. This role reports to the Head of R&D Bioinformatics. RequirementsAn education in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline. Familiarity with bioinformatics or life sciences is a plus. Several years of professional experience with web application and front-end development. Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including knowledge of design patterns, reactive libraries, Node, Vue and Next/Nuxt. Proficiency with application deployment (CI/CD) and software testing. Experience with cloud service providers and cloud native development on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Experience in Python and understanding of concepts and frameworks for full stack development is beneficial. Good organizational and English language skills. German language skill is a plus.
