Position Summary:
The Data and Information Architect will play a pivotal role in building and operationalizing the minimally inclusive data necessary for the enterprise data and analytics initiatives following industry standard practices and tools. The bulk of the Data and Information Architect work would be in building, managing, and optimizing data pipelines and then moving these data pipelines effectively into production for key data and analytics consumers like business/data analysts, data scientists or any persona that needs curated data for data and analytics use cases across the enterprise. As the Data and Information Architect, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of various data-related initiatives within Hookipa. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including pre-clinical, research, clinical operations, clinical biomarkers and process development to ensure the successful execution of projects related to establishing Master Data Management (MDM), Scientific and Clinical Data Management, Data Warehouse, and advanced scientific computing and data visualization tools. This role will be critical in the implementation of a Data and Analytics technical COE at Hookipa to establish the foundational data science and data modelling capability at the company. Your technical expertise and leadership will play a vital role in supporting our research and development activities, driving data-driven decision-making, and enabling efficient and effective data management practices.

Main Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of complex data systems and solutions.
Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support data analysis and business intelligence.
Create and maintain current- and target-state data architectures.
Define and manage standards, guidelines, and processes to ensure data quality.
Ensure technology solutions are in alignment with data architecture principles and target state.
Oversee end-to-end data life cycle management activities.
Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies for data management, storage, and analytics.
Lead the development and implementation of Master Data Management (MDM) infrastructure, ensuring data integrity, standardization, and quality across the organization.
Collaborate with IT BRM’s, and business stakeholders to understand scientific and clinical data management user stories and requirements, and design and implement solutions to capture, store, and analyze data from various sources.
Oversee the design and maintenance of a scalable and robust Data Warehouse, ensuring efficient data storage, retrieval, and integration.
Develop and implement advanced scientific computing solutions to enable data analysis, modeling, and simulation in support of research and development activities.
Evaluate and implement data visualization tools and techniques to facilitate the effective communication of complex scientific and clinical data.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to the IT team, on Data and Analytics ensuring adherence to best practices, standards, and compliance requirements.
Collaborate with IT and other teams to ensure the availability, security, and reliability of data systems and infrastructure.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Information Systems, or a related field. A master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline would be an advantage.
Proven experience (5+ years) in implementing data management, analytics, and visualization solutions in a scientific or clinical environment, preferably within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
Strong understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) concepts, principles, and best practices.
Experience in designing and implementing Data Warehouse solutions
Solid knowledge of advanced scientific computing tools and techniques, such as statistical analysis, machine learning, and high-performance computing.
Demonstrated expertise in data visualization tools and frameworks
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, Hadoop, Snowflake or Java
Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements, such as FDA guidelines for data integrity and GxP compliance.
Technical leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.

We are required by Austrian law to post a minimum salary. The minimum monthly gross salary for this position is EUR 4.112,- based on fulltime (40 hours per week); depending on experience and qualification salary can be negotiated. In addition, we offer a performance-related bonus payment and participation in our stock option compensation program.
