Summary / Role Purpose
The Application Engineer is responsible for leveraging domain engineering knowledge and relationships to help customers solving complex engineering problems using Ansys Digital Mission Engineering software and to support regional accounts with significant impact on software revenue. The role encompasses providing technical support of our customers, engaging in presale activities to support sales campaigns, delivering professional services to support software growth, and helping translate customer requirements into exciting new product features.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Apply engineering expertise and knowledge of Digital Mission Engineering (DME) and STK to provide highest level technical assistance to customers and channel partners, ensuring high-quality, timely customer service that results in improved customer satisfaction and productivity.
Work with Ansys channel partners to grow the revenue, market presence, smooth integration, and collaboration with Ansys, independence, prosperity, and overall satisfaction with respect to working with AGI and selling DME software.
Work closely with DME sales leadership to ensure smooth go to market operations throughout EMEA across sales, ACE, channel partners, and customers.
Architect and develop holistic system-level solutions and workflows using STK by leveraging technologies and disciplines such as tool integration, model-based systems engineering, simulation process and data management, design exploration and optimization, and digital mission engineering.
Own the customer problems, proactively engage with selected accounts to provide comprehensive solutions. Contribute to all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle, interact with customers to understand their product design needs and engineering design workflows and articulate Ansys’ value proposition.
Instruct introductory and/or intermediate training classes and contribute to the delivery of professional services for projects which might include collaborative work with other field engineers in the same or different disciplines.
Instruct advanced and/or application focused training classes. Lead project teams for professional services which include collaborative work with other field engineers in the same or different disciplines.
Gather customer requirements to support the improvement of Ansys software and collaborate with the Ansys product development teams to translate customer requirements into new product capabilities. Test new releases on industrial problems.
Participates in internal corporate initiatives to share knowledge and to create best practices, inside the discipline and cross-disciplines.
Develop simulation best practices, solutions, FAQs for knowledge base.
Mentor junior engineers
Actively collaborate with other team members as well as other functions including sales, marketing, and product management/development within and outside of the region to drive customer success.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

Required education and degree type: BEng, MEng, MSc or PhD in Mechanical/Chemical/Aerospace/Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Required minimum years of professional experience in an engineering environment: BEng+3years.
Required minimum years of professional experience in an engineering environment: 3 years for Bachelors, 2 years for Masters, or 1 years for PhD.
Proficiency in scripting/ development using one of more of the following languages: Python, MATLAB, C#, Java
Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial STK, CAE software packages
Knowledge of DME programming interfaces and building complex workflows with the broader Ansys portfolio.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate and conduct webinars and presentations to customers.
Ability to work on multiple projects which are complex in nature.
Ability to wear multiple hats to support a wide variety of stakeholders needs throughout the region.
Subject matter expert in one or more relevant disciplines within Ansys’ business and is/will be sought out for advice by other Ansys engineers.
Track record of delivering exceptional customer outcomes and revenue impact.
Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
Demonstrated skills in writing and presenting in fluent English.
National in one of the NATO countries, preferably France or Germany.
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Working knowledge of satellite orbits, space mission design, and aircraft systems.
Demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and translate these into an execution plan that delivers value and meets business goals.
Preferred experience in Aerospace and Defense
Preferred fluency in French
Preferred location: Paris, France with ability to travel up to 50% time.
