About the Job
As RF HW Integration Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for all 4G/5G RF HW boards at United Micro including RFIC CV evaluation boards and RF Engine reference boards.
Your Responsibilities
RFIC CV evaluation board development based on the requirements and CV objectives defined by the RFIC CV team. Work with CV on the detailed board design and component selection to meet the RF IC test and debug objectives.
RF Engine board development based on the concepts and main-components pre-selection from RF System Engineering. Work with system engineering on the detailed design and final component selection to meet the RF engine board objectives for RF performance testing and providing reference designs to our customers.
Align detailed RF board requirements with the Platform HW team for board compatibility and integrability with the BBIC evaluation boards and the platform system verification boards. Thereby, special focus shall be put on power supply and cross-coupling mitigations measures.
Design and develop interface / emulation boards for test automation and various RF test equipment.
Develop and review schematic diagrams for RF boards, ensuring compliance with design specifications and customer requirements.
Define the PCB floorplans and oversee the layout design of RF boards, considering RF signal integrity, noise, cross-coupling and thermal constraints.
Secure the designs by simulation and modeling with state-of-the-art PCB tools and utilizing industry best practices for high-frequency PCB layout.
Collaborating tightly with the HW team in Shenzhen, China, who will take care for the detailed PCB layout, stack-ups and builds execution.
Providing RF HW back-office support to our Platform HW team and customer support team in Shenzhen. Support debug efforts such as spur debugging on board level.
Contribute with expert knowledge to United Micro’s overall HW strategy optimized for the various development steps from RFIC, BBIC and PMIC development, platform integration & verification and customer HW integration support.
Oversee the RF board inventory and configuration handling. Generate and maintain detailed documentation for all aspects of the RF hardware design, including schematics, layouts, and test procedures. Contribute to design reviews and provide clear and concise technical documentation.
Education and Experience
Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Strong experience in Wireless (4G/5G) and RF hardware board design for test and verification applications as well as for OEM products.
Familiar with state-of-the-art RF frontend and PMIC components and circuits.
Familiar with industry best practices for high-frequency PCB layout and knowledgeable of related RF signal integrity, noise, cross-coupling and thermal constraints.
Proficiency in state-of-the-art PCB design software and RF simulation tools.
Familiar with RF test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, and signal generators.
Hands-on experience in HW board debugging such as cross-coupling and spur debugging.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional international teams.
