Chief Technology Officer - Advancing Backend Technological Innovation (m/w/d)We are a growing startup based in Austria, seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with a strong background in Ruby on Rails development. As a key member of our executive team, you will lead the technological direction of our company, driving the design and implementation of our web application. This pivotal role offers the flexibility of remote work, with the option for onsite collaboration in Vienna, Austria. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in Ruby on Rails development, complemented by a profound understanding of web application development and adherence to software engineering best practices. While proficiency in TypeScript, React, and GraphQL is advantageous, we are also looking for a strategic leader who can foster innovation and guide our technology team to new achievements. As our CTO, you will not only be a technical expert but also a mentor and a strategist, capable of steering our technology vision and ensuring its alignment with our business goals. Responsibilities Oversee Software Development: Ensure high standards and effective methodologies in the software development process. Architectural Contributions: Shape the overall architecture and technical direction of our web applications. Lead the Development Team: Provide leadership and guidance, fostering a collaborative and productive environment. Feature Design and Implementation: Design and implement new features and functionalities for our Ruby on Rails-based web applications and API. Collaborative Development: Work closely with the development team to ensure code is well-designed, efficient, and thoroughly tested. Debugging and Troubleshooting: Assist in troubleshooting and debugging production issues, ensuring smooth and reliable operation. Requirements Ruby on Rails Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in developing with Ruby on Rails, with an emphasis on hands-on coding and implementation of web applications. Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of web application development, software engineering best practices, and familiarity with RESTful and GraphQL APIs for iOS and Android app integration. Educational Foundation: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Additional Technical Skills: Experience with or willingness to learn TypeScript, React, and GraphQL, enhancing our tech stack's versatility. Development Workflow Oversight: Guide and ensure the effective use of code versioning and management tools within the development workflow, with an understanding of Git as a standard. AI Enthusiasm: A keen interest in Artificial Intelligence and its evolving role in the tech landscape. Leadership Skills: Aptitude for team collaboration and an interest in taking on leadership responsibilities within the technology team.
