R&D Principal Architect (80-100%)

Your role in this position will be to initiate and drive technology and/or product development using in-depth technical expertise in a specific area or a broad range of skills in a technical field. In this role, you will manage or coordinate development projects/activities of substantial impact to ABB, serving as an acknowledged expert in at least one technical discipline/research area.
This position reports to
R&D Team Lead
Your responsibilities

Define guidelines and processes, create and document architectural approaches for software design and implementation.
Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers.
Collaborate on Excitation portfolio with coding (min 20%) in C++.
Drive and make decisions for software development.
Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility, etc.
Approve final software product before launch.
Oversee progress of development team to ensure consistency with initial design.
Derive high-level product specifications with an input of market- and product requirements with attention to system integration and feasibility.

Your background

Minimum 5 years of experience working as principal architect or minimum 10 years of experience as architect with knowledge in Agile methodology (Scrum preferred) and leading technical teams.
Sound knowledge in software development (hard real-time development preferred at least familiar level) and coding in various languages (C++, C#, .NET, Java).
Knowledge of Cloud technologies, Security, DevOps/CICD, Docker/Kubernetes, Git.
A solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills.
A MSc/MA in computer science, engineering, or relevant field.
Fluent English knowledge and willingness to learn German.
