Wrisk is reinventing insurance for today's digital consumer based on a vision that insurance ought to be simple, transparent and personal. The insurance platform developed by Wrisk combines the best customer experience, modern technology, insurance know-how and a unique distribution strategy for the automotive sector. Having already created differentiated insurance experiences in the UK for brands like BMW, MINI, Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover, Wrisk is now looking to expand platform capability to target other markets, initiatives and territories.
We’re looking for a talented Senior Frontend Engineer to help evolve our insurance platform, as we scale out to new products, partners and regions. In this role, you will be working as a core part of a small, but highly skilled cross-functional team of software engineers, designers, insurance experts and finance professionals. You will have direct input on the platform architecture and strategy, taking ownership for what you build. As a small start up, you will be working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with the opportunity to be involved in many different aspects of the business domain and technical stack.

Requirements

Several years experience building highly-scalable and well-performing web applications.
Extensive knowledge of TypeScript and React.
Frontend state management using React hooks and contexts.
Familiarity with component-based design systems and CSS-in-JS.
Experienced working with REST APIs.
A good understanding of identity and session management.
Test driven development.
Git (or experience with a similar distributed source control system).
Strong problem solving skills for debugging issues throughout the entire stack.
Either a degree in computer science / software engineering / related discipline or five years of experience in commercial software engineering.

Helpful to know

An understanding of Progressive Web Apps.
Experience with AWS, in particular for web-hosting.
Infrastructure as code, using tools such as Terraform or similar.
Familiarity with styled system and styled components.
Publishing JavaScript libraries as NPM packages.
Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (we use CircleCI).
Familiarity with server-side technologies including, Kotlin, Gradle, and Dropwizard.
Experience with relational databases such as Postgres.
Project Management tools (we use Jira).
