Your future responsibilities
The Frontend Integrated Circuits (FEIC) - Lab focuses on the design of the next-generation light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensors and beyond state-of-the-art ADC- & DAC- concepts.
The research activity of this master concentrates on the time-of-flight (ToF) readout channel building blocks for LiDAR sensors. In particular, the focus is on time-to-digital converters (TDC) and on-chip ToF compression. The goal is to investigate new TDC and ToF compression architecture to optimize area and power consumption toward high-speed Mpixel LiDAR sensors.

The main task consists of

Literature survey for ToF readout solutions for Mpixel LiDAR sensors
Modeling, design, and simulation of circuit in MATLAB and Cadence environment
Publication of the results at a conference or in a scientific journal
Your profile
Master Student in Electrical Engineering
Experience in Cadence analog design flow (from schematic to post-layout simulation).
Knowledge of analog IC design methodology (operation amplifier, delay locked loop, oscillators, etc.).
MATLAB/Simulink Knowledge
Team player, self-motivated and goal-oriented.

This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for employees in non-university research (Research CA) related to §19. For this position, we offer a salary of EUR 1.593 per month, paid 14 times a year.
