What you will be working on
You conduct research within the framework of innovative applied and basic research projects on Computer Vision, Machine Learning (ML) / Deep Learning in interdisciplinary problem settings of film studies and art history.
You develop methods for the automatic analysis, retrieval, and classification of images and videos as well as interactive visual interfaces for the ML-supported searching, browsing, and analysis of large media databases.
You support the writing of scientific publications, presentations, and scientific research project proposals.
You have ambitions to pursue a dissertation/PhD and support teaching.
What we expect from you
University degree (Master level) in Computer Science (or comparable technical degree) or in Digital Humanities
Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in Machine Learning with a special focus on at least one of the following areas:
Computer Vision & Visual Retrieval (Python, OpenCV; Deep Learning libraries such as TensorFlow/PyTorch)
Human-Centred AI & Visual Analytics (HTML, CSS, JavaScript; libraries such as D3.js/FLASK/VueJS)
Excellent command of English, willingness to learn/improve your German language skills (for non-natives)
Curiosity, independent working style, interest in questions from the Digital Humanities
