VIRTUAL VEHICLE is an internationally successful research and development center for virtual vehicle technologies. We deal with future vehicle concepts and future development processes. Current developments in the field of powertrains and driver assistance systems are leading to strongly software-based vehicles (software-defined car) and therefore require a rethink and new approaches in vehicle development. With over 300 employees, we are the largest research center for virtual vehicle development in Europe. We are working on safe, environmentally friendly and
affordable vehicles of the future.
Tasks
You work in applied research projects in the field of automotive & digital mobility and solve challenges with computer science focus (IoT, edge/cloud computing, information systems, data-driven services).
You will design and develop innovative web-based software systems and hybrid apps (context-based information systems) interconnected with smart devices as prototypes together with the project team and the project partners.
You carry out software tests for quality assurance and software documentation.
You have technical leadership and responsibility within the framework of tasks,
work packages or projects.
You will be involved in the initiation of research/service projects and in the
preparation of research proposals.
Requirements
You have a degree (at least Master) in software engineering, computer science, telematics or similar studies.
You have experience in the design and development of web-based software systems
and/or hybrid apps ( >3 years, professional and/or private projects).
You have knowledge of the design of system architectures (esp. for IoT, edge/cloud
and server environments), data management and interfaces.
You have good knowledge of a high-level programming language (Java / C++ / C# /
Kotlin / GO / ...) and experience with web services (HTTP, REST, WebSocket).
You have knowledge of design patterns and client-server structures.
You like to deal with topics of user experience.
Nice-to-have: Experience in working with frontend frameworks such as Flutter or React Native.
You are prepared to work scientifically in applied research (creation of
publications, presentation at national and international conferences).
Excellent German skills (at least A2) and good English skills (at least B1), both written and spoken.
