Work in close collaboration with project leaders and programmers to design and implement innovative and engaging UI and UX concepts and web-interfaces for web-based applications such as websites, web-based platforms, and mobile apps.Contribute to joint development of user and design requirements and user-centric process flows with the project teams.Prototype with wireframes and mock-ups and guide the design process from conception to ready-to-implement design together with project leaders and the development team.Develop and design web applications based on agreed designs and wireframes/mock-ups in close collaboration with back-end programmers.Devise and carry out usability tests for selected projects, as well as devise mockups and click dummies for presentations, tests, and project feedback cycles.Apply existing branding guidelines to new products and/or design graphic elements and visual elements (incl. color schemes, icons, infographics, simple data visualizations) to be used in our products.In line with the team spirit that prevails at IIASA, the incumbent may occasionally work on other tasks assigned by their superiors, that might not be directly related to this appointment but where the post holder has relevant experience and skills, and/or a shortage of immediate personnel capabilities requires such.
Qualifikationen

Proven UI and visual design abilities, which can be demonstrated through a portfolio of relevant work examples.Very good knowledge of relevant design tools and UX software such as Adobe XD, Sketch, InVision, Balsamiq, Framer.js, etc. and always on the outlook for new, cutting-edge methods and tools for User Centred Design, Interaction Design, Information Architecture.Solid understanding in relevant technologies and software requirements: HTML5, CSS(3), JavaScript.Up-to-date knowledge of the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies.Ability to unpick complex user journeys and simplify them with strong designs and interfaces.Full fluency in English with strong text editing skills; a good working-level of German is beneficial.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels.Excellent organizational and priority setting skills, and the ability to respond to deadlines in a timely manner.Demonstrated ability to work well independently and in close cooperation with others and maintain professional and productive relationships with staff from diverse nationalities and backgrounds.Knowledge of object-oriented software development.

Erfahrung

Completed academic qualification in the field of design, web design, front-end development or other relevant area and/or several years of demonstrated professional experience as a UI/UX designer for web applications, preferably in the research area.Good knowledge of UI frameworks and experience with front-end technologies, such as Bootstrap, Material, Tailwind, js, NextJs, Leaflet.Js, etc,.Practical experience and great understanding of responsive and mobile design.Experience with GIS and mapping frameworks.
