Student Assistant
at the Research Group Software Architecture

In this position you will work, as a software tester, on the university wide project "u:plan". In short, the goal of the project is to solve a constantly recurring problem: The organization and planning of appointments within university teaching. For this purpose, various internal data sources (registrations, courses, curricula, etc.) are tapped. A Java backend including a web-based frontend then offers the possibility to evaluate these according to individual criteria. For example, to find optimal (e.g. overlap-free) exam dates for students and teachers.
Duration of employment: 6 month/s
Extent of Employment: 10 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. C with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
1. Testing of software artifacts (backend, frontend, APIs).
2. Creation, execution and maintenance of tests, automation of related steps.
3. Evaluating test results, tracking and collaborating with development teams to analyze and resolve issues.
4. Supporting users, evaluating and analyzing reported bugs and feedback.
5. Assisting in planning next steps of development.
6. Minor development activities in front-end and or back-end.
Profile:
- Ongoing studies (Bakk, MA, Dipl.) in a technical field, preferably related to computer science (without a master's or diploma degree in this field)
Ability to perform tasks independently and on one's own responsibilityKnowledge of software development, especially object-oriented development (Java) and software testing, experience with Git and GitLab.Spoken languages: German and EnglishAbility to work in a team
Knowledge of university structures and processes are advantageousKnowledge of web development and network communication is an advantageKnowledge of test automation is an advantage
