EyeTech Solutions is currently looking for an experienced Backend PHP Developer for our client in Luxembourg. As a Backend PHP Developer, you will be responsible for developing highly-available and scalable web-based applications and web services using PHP and optimizing existing code with engineering best practices. You will be working on-site and will be required to have a strong understanding of popular algorithms, design patterns, data structures, and writing efficient queries.

Our client is a leading company in the field of software development and IT solutions. They employ over 200 people and offer a comfortable office space in Luxembourg city.

Description
As a Backend PHP Developer, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
Developing highly-available and scalable web-based applications and web services using PHP
Optimizing existing code with engineering best practices
Developing and working with relational databases, such as PostgreSQL, used by our applications
Elaborating on advanced full-text search, we use Elasticsearch
Implementing and consuming cross-platform Web Services like JSON/REST
Staying up-to-date with new technologies, operating systems, automated testing tools, etc. to maintain an awareness of technological advances
Maintaining site updates, fixing and troubleshooting front-end bugs, and improving performance
Performing system and integration testing with sample and live data
Providing documentation as required and participating in code reviews, planning sessions, and routine status stand-ups
Monitoring health, usage, and overall compliance of the application

Profiles
The ideal candidate for the Backend PHP Developer position should possess the following skills and competencies:

Good understanding and practice of popular algorithms, design patterns, and data structures
Knowledge of writing efficient queries and DB schemas
Strong, disciplined skills in PHP
Experience using MVC Application Development Frameworks

Will be a plus:

Experience with source code control systems (git)
Intermediate to advanced understanding of Linux
Solid understanding of OOP
Knowledge of integrating with internal and external applications and systems
Understanding of scalability and load-balancing issues
Experience writing Unit Tests

Offer

Freelance contract 6 months with possible extensions
Only on-site work, no remote possibilities
Main language English. French and German are a benefit
